So there's a pair of Cain&Cain Abby's I can pick up locally for $900... BlueMD, you have these right? You married? How does the woman feel about them? I went & listened to them last night, loved 'em, but they're freakin' HUGE. My woman says I can do whatever, but sometimes that means different things :)

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Edit: By huge I mean tall... really tall. On the other hand, they do match her cabinets & floor.

Tread lightly in this situation. "whatever" rarely means what you think it does :P

i say et them, but keep an eye on the wifey shortly after. if she seems affected, talk to her about it before she talks to you. it lets her know you care about her feelings. at that time it will be too late to change things, but be ready to do something nice for her on you own accord to make ammends (a nice dinner, flowers at work, etc).

if you identify her disdain before she tells you, even after you buy them, smoothing things over should be a snap.

    just my unsolicited .02 :p

    Those are not 'huge" speakers.

I actually thought that the WAF on those is pretty high. They don't consume a lot of real estate and they are pretty nice looking to boot.

ehhh... never mind. Win some lose some. I won on another topic and looks like it's gonna cost me the Cains. Oh well, thanks for the input, guys. If anyone else in the raleigh area is interested, here's a link:

Well, in the "for what it's worth" department, my wife loves the look and sound of the Abbeys. Compared to some of the other speakers in the mix here (SDA SRS and MG-I Maggies) they are really quite diminutive. Sounds like you enjoyed them, and that speaks louder than any recommendation I might offer.
