I have to give them credit. My new DLP TV started acting-up. I was getting bright green lines on the contours of objects on the screen. It's almost 3 months old and when I called they said just bring it up and we'll give you a new one.So yesterday they swapped it out for a new set, no questions asked.

I had mixed experience so far. My RPTV had green horizontal band that I found when it was 2 weeks old, called them and they brought a new one to my home and pickup up the old one, that was a happy story.

Now one year later the TVs convergence has gone bad, and the repair ticket is open for last three weeks. Apparently they are waiting for a part. When I ask about how long I have to wait, the CC rep says that I have a wait for a couple of months for the part, if they couldn’t get the parts by then they will replace the unit.

The way I read it is if the TV is under Manufacturer warranty then they will issue a replacement easily, but if Manufacturer warranty has ended and it is covered by CC warranty, then they will try their best not to replace it.

What model is it? Have you tried to manually converge it? I check mine every 3 months. Most RPTV's I've seen will very slowly "drift" out of convergence.

It is Samsung HCN4226W. Its convergance amplifier has gone bad and isnt responding to auto and manual convergence. According the tech, who saw it, this is a common issue with this model and is usually fixed by replacing the convergence board.

Best Buy replaced a DVD player I purchased over two months later with no extended warranty or even a receipt. I had purchased it with a credit card so they could verify my purchase date through their system. The customer rep said I would have to go to the manufacturer normally but for customer satisfaction I could go get a replacement off the shelf. Good move on their part.

I just took my sony 300 CD changer to Circuit city for extended service i purchased almost 3 years ago. theyre attempting to repair it. i hope they cant so i can get a new one, but they were good on the extended service.

by the way, what could cause the CDP to randomly start skipping even on brand new CDs? sometimes it works perfectly the next time i use it, it may skip. random.

    thanks

most probably either lens need cleaning or alignment is going out on the laser pickup.
