Garage Sale items part 3

Looking for a rough value and some opinions on this gear I picked up today, looks to be early nineties stuff.
Have not cleaned anything. Cabinets have a few small blems, foam good. No major marks on the components.

I’ll check Ebay completed items to see what I can find out.

Yeah I know it’s Kenwood gear, but it was a whole package deal.

This stuff will probably head to the bay unless there's some interest here (not a solicitation for sales).

Thanks,

G

Didn't they recently announce that they were going to stop making stereo/HT equipment? I seem to remeber reading about it. That's a shame.

    Cool find......

As far as the Kenwood gear, nothing to write home about. Very average. One thing about that generation of Kenwood is that they came with a fair amount of features. Also very very reliable. Before I worked at a high end dealer in the late 80's early 90's, I worked in a store that sold all the Kenwood gear pictured.

Are the bottom 2 pieces from Kenwood's Basic line? Maybe a C-2 pre and an M-2 amp. I used to own a C-1/M-1 combo. It was OK. Didn't keep 'em very long. Those seperates might be worth keeping if the price was right. Sell the rest.

I have no experience with the Infinity's.

While we're on the subject of Kenwood. I used to own a KD-880 turntable, anybody remember those? The base of the TT was made out of granite. I think it was solid granite. It weighed a ton. Pretty nice piece back then. Anybody have any experience with this TT or own one today? From what I remember it was a very good TT. I had a Shure V-15R cartridge with it and it sounded damn nice back then.

    Just curious

Those speakers look like Infinity Studio Monitor series SM-****
Are those 12" woofers or 15"? I had a set with the 10" woofer, single midrange and the same tweeter. They were my first set of home stereo speakers. They played rock and techno music pretty good, but they were not very detailed and terrible with acoustic/jazz/classical. The bass was boomy and the treble pretty harsh. There best attribute was that they were really efficient (like 98db) and would crank with minimal power. Back in 1994, I thought that was a good thing. Boy times have changed.

I sold them to a friend for a basement stereo and he is still using them occasionally. I was glad to get rid of them and move up to a more refined sound.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I picked up the GE891 in a pawn shop about 10-12 years ago for $20, no box, no manual, no nothing! I hardly ever use it anymore since it disables the 5.1 on my Yamaha A/V receiver.

I see that you have the original boxes, do you also have the owners manuals? If so, would it be possible to get a copy/photocopy/scanned PDF of the GE891 manual?

    They are 15's.
