In this months copy of "The absolute Sound" they have an article that list the best sounding rock albums of all time. One of there selections was Metallica's "St. Anger".
Holy crap, if this is their idea of an album that sounds good, I do not need to read any of their equipment reviews. I have never heard anyone say anything good about ST. Anger. IMHO it is the worst album they have ever put out, content wise and sound wise.
Exactly what are the editor's of TAS smoking?

Whatever they are smoking....I want some
That reminds me, a while back I read everywhere that the Sarah McLachlan DVD Mirrorball was "the best" sounding DVD made. I went out an bought it, I'm a big Sarah fan anyways, and it does sound good but certainly not the best mix I've ever heard. Still glad I bought it. I guess we all hear a bit differently because there have been some real duds out there. Oh yeah, the new U2 cd sounds like crap too. Read everywhere that the SQ was excellent, what a load.....
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
Maybe they meant Metallica achived the "garage" sound they were after. It is obviously a miserable recording for sound quality.
