Best way to set up Bookshelfs??
How should I set up my RT5s to get the best sound? I currently have them mounted to the wall using the plates on the back. I know there is a better way-I am just starting out and kinda in over my head.

The plate is metal. Stands aren't too viable because I have a desk below where they are located-getting ready to put in a shelf actually though...God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8

I'm not familar with that speaker. Does it have the power port in the back? If so, it would probably be better away from the wall and on a shelf.

If it sounds good in your room, then you have done a decent job already. Some of us are limited by room shape/size and placement options. Although, to truly "set up" speakers involves some real time and care, and positioning the speakers at exactly the right distance apart, and exactly the right angle toward the "sweet spot." Once set up properly, you will get the best detail and imaging possible from your speaker. The first place to start is to get the speakers separated to where vocals appear to be coming from the middle of the speaker plane when sitting in the central sweet spot. From there, you must tweak to find the best setup to where the soundstage is correct, but bass and midrange are natural sounding and not exaggerated. It should sound flat, rather than too warm or too dry.
Of course, this is for two-channel music listening only. For movies, especially for mulitple listeners, just try to find the best position that seems to fill the room well and still allow for a proper left-to-right soundstage for the majority of viewers. Ideally, it is said the tweeters should be at ear level when seated. Anywhere within 4-6" of that will still sound pretty good, if not optimal.Current System:

Well, I am off of school and looking for anything to fill my time so-I guess placement will be my goal
