one thing that I did when I lived in UT was to rubberize the entire undercarriage of my car and I didn't ever have one problem with rust and grime in the years I owned that car.

That will work too. It adds weight but also sound-deadening. It also has to be reapplied periodically.

I'm from Milwaukee, very close to Chi-town.
Chicago is the most cosmopolitan city in the midwest, and offers alot of cultural advantages.
There is only one thing that helped me to make up my mind to leave, and it's 5 months long. WINTER.
Brett, I also lived in SLC for 4 years, and let me tell you, the winters are not comparable.
But, you will dig all that summer greenery.

I'll offer a few survival tips.

    1. airconditioning in the summer, both car and apartment.
    2. big cans of mosquito spray, and fuctioning screen windows
    3. big jugs of anti freeze and down parkas in the winter.
    4. the ability to consume your own weight in beer and sausage.

    All the best man!

I still live in Milwaukee myself and make my way down to Chicago for shows and such all the time. I really like that city a lot, but it's just someplace I'd rather visit than live. Dunno, could be really awesome for you....definitely lots of stuff to do and you can experience a myriad of different things in a day there.

Bugs are crappy, but in the city? Eh...not going to be an issue. Out in the sticks where I grew up here in Wisconsin mosquitos are horrible, but here in the city they aren't so bad unless you're right by the lake or in a park.

Hope you move up here....it's a great place to be, IMO.

LOL Don't you have some nasty critters crawling around down there? I have some friends down there and they have an active spray routine around the house for black widows and such.

My bug history started with TX where I was introduced to flying cockroaches, Junebugs, and mosquito's with wingspans up to 3"........

UT was relatively obscure....nothing compared to TX.....

AZ has a few, but past the typical fly, nothing too brutal. The bugs here know this isn't a good place to set up shop.

The biggest insect I ever saw crawled out from under the front seat of a cab in Hawaii. The wife screamed, put her feet on the seat and never took her eyes off the floor. The driver said it was a pet. LOL It looked like it could have bit off a small toe.

She swears it was a huge cockroach. I just remember it was about 3" long and she missed some nice scenery on the way from the airport.
