I don't get the fascination with Krispy kreme...they're nasty to me...

But donuts in general, I do love...

I think that they're better than the likes of Duncan Donuts and Winchells, but what will blow your mind is if you happen to be in line for a fresh batch of warm glazed in the morning.......those things practically melt in your mouth....

I love their Sour Cream doughnut.

Yesterday I went to In-n-Out and had me a double-double, cheese burger and fries, then, for desert, a Krispy Kreme doughnut.

Bretts right. Krispy Kremes are only special if you get them right off the deep fryer belt.. otherwise.. once they cool down. they aren't any better than other donuts. just cost more is all. ;)

He gets all the fiber he needs, with those dark ales he drinks (eats really, some you have to chew).

Cleans those double meat burgers right out of the system.

Otherwise I'm going to have to stop off at Krispy Kreme tomorrow morning & buy a damn donut!

And I don't want to! So just stop talking about them.

    PS Ron,

There is no place for me to pick up that artery clogging but sounds so good burger, so you stop talking about them!

They just finally brought Krispy Kreme's to our area in the last year or so, adn the freakin place they decide to do it is all of 2 minutes from my house. F'ers.

I would much prefer they bring In'n'Out Burger out here tho. Those are some good burgers.

I can relate Bobman. They put one in Copley Place which I can stop by on my way to work if I choose.

When they opened, they had some people right here at my job and handed out a box of 12 donuts to each of us who were came through the door until they ran out, to let us know they were now in the neighborhood!

Lamar's is a KC treasure. The original Mom-n-Pop place (on Linwood Blvd. as I recall) was always standing room only in the morning. I always admired their sense of community embodied in the several days a year they donated (no pun intended) the entire day's receipts to charity. Hopefully, that is still the case, even though they've gone to franchising.

It's been a number of years since I lived in your fair city. As I recall, the name was sold to either the Gilbert-Robinson conglomerate, or the fellow bought Winstead's and franchised it (there used to be only one of those too -- on the South side of 47th Street, just east of Main.) Lamar's had such an excellent reputation that I'm sure the purchase was for the express purpose of franchising. The original Mom-n-Pop place was a hole in the wall on the North side of Linwood Blvd. just West of The Paseo a few blocks. I'm glad to hear their donuts are still great, and they probably have spread well beyond KC by now.

Edit: Here we go, from their web site today -

"Ray Lamar, 87, founding father of the LaMar’s Donuts chain, announced this week he’s exchanging his apron for full-time retirement due to age-related health problems. His downtown Kansas City doughnut shop opened in a converted gas station in 1960 and was the first store in the LaMar’s Donuts chain that today has 32 corporate-owned and franchise locations in eight states with six stores under construction and several more in development."

At the Krispy Kreme that I go to in phila sometimes (out on baltimore pike) they'll always give you a free donut if they're running the line when you come in.... I don't get what's so special about the promotion.

And that's the only way to eat 'em.... straight outta the glazer.
    Ludicrous gibs!

they're trying to lure non donut eaters in by announcing free donuts. it's a advertising gimmick. and it does work believe it or not.

people come in for a free donut.. and leave with a box or two of donuts.. so they would make a huge sale to cover the small cost of a free donut. so is your donut really free if you leave with a box or two fo them?

I went to KK today for a freebe.. they didn't know much about it at all. so they weren't giving ayway any free donuts other than the one glazed ones you get in line inside the store... the same ones they give away 365 days a year.
