Marantz 2270 For Sale

Any "vintage" Marantz fans here?
I have a 2270 stereo receiver that I'd like to sell. This is about a 1973 model, rated 70W/C. I accquired it in a trade, about six years ago, from someone I worked with. I don't know about its history before that, but the person I got it from was very possibly the original owner. It's not mint cond, but I would call it "good"--- I've done nothing to it since I've had it, and actually I haven't used it much either. I took the top off and dusted it out with canned air. The only thing I know of that doesn't work is the "FM" light. All the other dial lights work, and they don't appear to have been replaced. The tuning is not as smooth as it should be, either.
I have the wooden case for it, but it's in bad shape. The receiver was taken out of it long ago, and the case was not stored very well. The veneer is peeling off--- It probably could be salvaged, but it would take some work.
I don't have a manual or anything, but click here for a spec page. I've been amazed to see these things sell on E-bay for nearly $400. I'd rather sell to a Polk-forum member. $150 buys it, or make me an offer if you think that's too much. I have more, hi-res pictures if you're interested. e-mail me at jmec@cswnet.com.

Great buy here fellas....
This is perfect for someone needing CLEAN power for a REAL nice 2ch rig on a budget.....I wish I still had my 2252b....
Cheers,
Russ
(anyone pondering, you will not be disappointed with the older Marantz performance...compare this simple receiver easily to $500+ of gear today.....)Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
Thanks, Russ.
I hooked it up and listened to it for a while this evening. Sounds good. All the controls sound clean, lots of power. Tuning sticks a little, but not bad. FM section might benefit from a tune-up--- Pretty good example of a 70's powerhouse receiver. Not an IC in it--They don't build 'em like this anymore.
Buy the Marantz: Re-visit the 70's! (Well, maybe just the equipment part of the '70's

I tried to put a picture there, but I guess it didn't work.
One more time: -
this is a good thing........I echo Russ's sentiments. I have the 2215B powering some big old Pioneer CS-88's. Great warm Marantz sound. Definately a "coolman" item to be sure.

This thing is heavy---- I figure, packed up well, it will weigh 45 lbs. , maybe a little less. My ZIP is 72855. I'll split the shipping with you, if you're interested.
E-mail me if you want to discuss it. I've got more pictures.

Jason-try going to this site

They run a classified section on there for people who are into old Mrantz units..you might have better luck on there selling it
