Upgrade?

So, Im sitting here wondering how I can achieve higher quality sound-realized my Comp. was not to par when compared to my CDP and then wondered if CDP ws anywhere close to par. it is a Hitachi DA-501. Anybody compared these to a cheap (150-200$) current CDP? Should I upgrade?

    Also, the CDP is from like 1986 or so-its older than me-should I swing for a new player?

    yeah either go with a upgrade on to your CDP or go with a DVD for playing CD's. it seems that more advances have happen to DVD player in recent years.. than to CD players.
