This is my first post to this site.

I recently replaced my SDA Compacts (which I've owned for 20 years) with a pair of LSi9s. Also added a PSW404.

Anyhow, I've enjoyed reading this forum and I look forward to participating.

So, how do you think the LSi9's compare to the SDA-CRS's? Is the loss in soundstage made up for with an increase in sound quality? What made you upgrade (just wanting a change)?

Well, the Compacts have always been light on bass, so a few weeks ago I added the 404. The sub was a nice improvement. Then I started reading articles on the 9s, which was impressive. Finally, I saw that Crutchfield had them for $100 off, so I decided that after 20 years I would replace the Compacts.

The 9s really pack a punch compared to the compacts. IMO the soundstage is better too. Also, with the 9s I'm able to have the variable crossover on the 404 set a lot lower. I've only had them a few days but there is a marked improvement over my compacts.

The SDAs still sound fine. If I had a bigger house I could probably find a place for them.

If you decide to rid yourself of those old dusty SDA's, I would suggest putting them up here in the flea market. That way somebody who appreciates them and will take care of them will get them. They'll also pay a fair price with no worries or hassels.

I'll keep that in mind. I've had them for so long I don't think I could part with them. I still have their original boxes.

Just a thought. Seeing that your the original owner and still have the boxes, they would be a nice find for someone.

Welcome. It's nice to hear that you still cherish the CRS's.

If you ever decide to let them go, let me know. They'll stay "in the family", and be cared for just like you do.

I'm close to Aiken, SC, which isn't too far from Charleston.

Didn't realize my compacts were still so desirable.

If you ever get down to Charleston, give me a shout!

Hang on the the CRS's.....definate keepers. I like the LSi9's as well but given the option, I'd take the CRS's any ol' time.

What Troy said. I had a chance to demo the CRS's at his home and they simply gelled with the rig we set up that day. Very enjoyable smaller speakers.
