Kim - Thanks for your suggestions. This system souds great, but I have one question... The MM465's were installed in custom pods (see picture). I saw a posting in which you said that these are designed as "free air" drivers. Would I get better sound by cutting ports or slots in the bottom of the pods so they aren't totally enclosed?
They sound awesome as is, I just want to make sure I am getting the most out of them!
Let me know your thoughts... Thanks!
SPEAKERS:
Polk/Momo MM455's (rear under seat)
Polk/Momo MM465's (front in custom pods)
Infinity Reference 5 1/4's (front under bow)
JL Audio 12" W4-D4 subwoofer (mounted in custom box hidden behind steering console)
AMPS:
JBL 600.1 Mono subwoofer AMP
JL Audio 300/4 - Powers MM455's and MM465's
(Head unit powers Infinty 5 1/4's for now...)
HEAD UNIT:
Blaupunkt "Los Angeles" - CD/MP3 player
Pics attached...

Tbuz, what kind of alternator do you got on that thing? 300A ??Testing

Hey kim, how could one "water proof" the x-over w/o voiding the warranty? A can of clear coat paint would dop the trick, only prob would be if the clear coat would eat thew silicon, and why does polk NOT make 15's? I have inpressed too many people with the mad-loud DX-12's. Or some BIG n BEEFY DVC's?

Dude, that IS a MOMO wheel!:p
The alternator is stock for now. Would a 300 amp get me a quicker charge? There is a 15 minute "no:mad:wake" zone on the way to the beach at the lake where I can only get about 1000 RPM's (cranking all the way, of course). After a couple hours of loud tunes the power of my secondary battery is sapped and I don't want to switch to the primary battery for fear of getting stranded.
What else would help give more battery life or faster charge at low RPM's when I don't have time to cruise around at higher RPM's for a while?
I had the crossovers mounted under dry areas so they should be pretty safe from any water splashing in. -
Sweet! Bigger altenator/more batteries:) Class D amps will help to conserve power, but are only LP. Power caps will help, but will not fix it. I would add in some of them spiral cell batteries, like 4 of them, and like 4 stranrard top caps. Will this boat see saltware? Saltater is hard on electronics....corrosive. That boat, it is killer hey. How fast is it? What size is the engine? Can we(I) see pics of the engine.
-
I will post a pic of the engine soon. It's a 350 MAG - 300 HP. It does just over 60 MPH with a full tank and 4 people on it. I am playing with some different props trying to get the best top end. I think it will probably max out at about 65 (unless I keep weighting it down with more batteries)!
I live in Phoenix, so the boat will just see freshwater lakes, and it rarely ever rains here, so I'm thinking I should get some distance out of the stuff. -
Tbuz,
Glad to see another boater with a hella system! Sharp floatie!!!!!!
