Need suggestions for rears
I have the following setup in my living room so far:
RT800i - Mains
CS400i - Centre
PSW450 - Sub
Old tower speakers - Rears
I'm looking to replace my old towers as they're from the late 80s and I'm sure are showing their age now. I have tried getting RT600i/800is from ebay with no luck so far as I'm either too far to ship (Toronto) or it's just too expensive.
Are there any newer, equivalent tower speakers that I could buy which would somewhat match the existing Polk setup that I have now? I know that matching speakers is important for the front but how important is it for the rears? I also don't want to spend an arm and a leg so even if it's not Polk then I could probably live with that. Thoughts?

Sure. Get a pair of the new RTi series and put them up front. Move the 800's to the rear.
Alternatively, get a pair of Rti series bookshelf speakers for the rear. Timbre matching is not as important in the rear. IMO, get towers if you can afford them.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

rti-4's if you like monopole (for music)
fxi3's if you like dipole (movies) and bipole (music)
The FX's are my preference. -
I'd say try to get a set of used RT35i off of ebay, audiogon, or in the flea market here at CP. They would be the perfect match for your mains and center in terms of driver size and type.

Would the new RTi series match ok with my CS400i center though?LoboTiger

Originally I was going to go for F/X500is back a couple of years ago but now I need to use towers in the back because we have a toddler and he's already tried to knock down the old satellite speakers I had on stands. Hence why I had to use an old pair of tower speakers but why I'd like to now get proper Polk rears.LoboTiger
