i came home from work yesterday to find two large boxes on my doorstep in the boxes were odyssey extreme monos. 300 wpc. 180.000 uf capacitance. 120 amps of high current. 66 pounds each with two 400 va plitron toroidal transformers per mono they sound great out of the box but will take at least six weeks to totally break in. build quality is first rate and all connections in the rear of the unit are by wbt. after they totally break in i will post my impressions on these babys....

they have really good synergy with the tempest preamp and the symphonic line cd player and the groneberg cables that are also the internal hardwiring inside the monos. good stuff!

It's a good feeling to know that you have an amp that doesn't care who, what or where....welcome to the club, have fun :)
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

That means we won't hear from you until when, the fall? Extreme wattage, and extreme breakin time, your sound will change for weeks and maybe months with those. The up side is you should never have to part with them for somethin' betta'!

    Congrats on the amps!

Klaus just called me from his cell phone to return a call. Talk about personal service and a guy that is totally enthused about what he does. He really seems like a great guy, when he slows down enough for me to understand him.:) :)

klaus has a real passion for all things audio and is one of the best people i have ever met! he told me he went to medical school at the university of wisconsin and while home in germany on vacation he met rolf gemien the owner and designer for symphonic line. and rolf gemien asked klaus to represent his highend gear in the united states and klaus started a company called german acoustics and that company later became odyssey audio i just shipped a pair of khartago monoblocks back to klaus as soon as i recieved the mono extremes and those amps took about five weeks of continuous playing 24/7 to fully break in. i will play the extremes the same way for six or seven weeks nonstop and i will never turn them off. klaus recommends keeping them powered up at all times . the khartago monos are some of the best amplifiers i have ever heard they had 150 wpc.100 amps of high current and still had that signature odyssey sound that can be described as a iron fist in a velvet glove. the mono extremes are just more of a great thing!

sorry but i dont even own a camera but if you look in the audiocircles in the gallery section and browse around a little several people should have pictures of thier mono extremes including some with the hood off and you should be able to see the plitron 400 va transformers stacked on top of each other and the internals wired with groneberg quattro reference cable.the build quality is very impressive with custom built capacitors and the improved german made red circuit boards rounding out the interior of the monos.
