Ok well i completed the power supply for my modded SI amp.. here are the pictures hooked up to the dodd and the sda1b's.. sounds fantastic... The power supply consists of a transformer from a wall wart and a mallory 50v large uf capacitor (big and anodized blue lol) ran a computer type cord hard wired and a piece of this same wire that has a connector that fits the outlet of course on the amp.. shrink wrapped up and looks clean, green led on the power supply and blue led on the amp both switched with a matching on/off switch... lemme know what ya think..
alittle satin clear coat and they would match the dodd's finish exactly

Nice job, Cliff. How does it all sound?

I run this in the bedroom on rt25i's and a parasound pre and it sounds great.. i tested it on the main 2 channel rig on tubes and sda's and it still sounds great!! alittle less bass on the big speakers and the amp does have it power output limits on these big speakers.. however i havent clipped the amp and it doesnt distort at higher volumes.. i think in part to the nice cap i installed in the PS, before the cap it ran out of steam at less then half volume.. It was a fun project.. not really cost effective .. but considering what you get for under 50 bucks complete its worth it. small, powerful, cool factor, clean sound and on tubes really laid back. i love the single led's on the front.. clean simple and bright...
THE key to this amp is ample power... on wall warts it did distort just as madmax had mentioned.. on a large 14amp ps i used it never gave up a bit.. and on a xformer capped it works fine..MY HT RIG:

Very cool looking rig. Are those Ampex Bugle Boys I see in your Dodd? How do you like the sound?
Maurice -
YUP amperex bugle boys.... nice smooth sound.. kinda light on bass.. but still sounds firm on bass, I have a 7308 on the way to try on the output, being this only uses one tube for output.. I think, lolMY HT RIG:
