I have 2 MM2124 running on a cheap lanzar 1600w amp, but i'm finaly selling it and getting something new.

What amp would you recommend for these subs within a $200-250 price range? I was looking at a single [url=http://www.polkaudio.com/car/product.php?name=c300_2
]C300.2[/url] but I dont know if that would be enough power.

Thanks for any help

After shopping around a while I found this Boss iQ 1080.2 amp. Is Boss a good amp maker, or is it a budget type amp like the lanzar I previously had?

I've never heard anything good about Boss, but the C500.1 would be a better choice than a C300.2. The C500 will put out more power at 2 ohms than the C300 will in stereo.

I agree. Boss is flea market stuff.

A single 300.2 wouldnt be enough for those 12's. The 500.1 would be a much better choice. It makes a smidge over 600 watts and 300 to a single 2124 is fine.

Thanks for the replys, I know to stay away from Boss now, I ended up getting a Concept CC-D1200 which I know puts out more then 400w RMS to each speaker, which I got for $150.

Concept is pretty solid. Definitely not high end but not crap either. Youll get your moneys worth out of it.

maybe keep the perfectly functional concept amp you now have?

well i got the amp and installed it, but its seems to not be producing any power even though the source is good at 14v and the subs are 4 ohms a peice.

I am going to an audio shop tomorrow to get it tested before I send it back to the manufacterer. Is there anything else I could do to get it working or test it to find where the problem is?

What do you mean by "seems to not be producing any power"? Do you mean its not making any or just very little?

If its not making any then it could be power wire, ground wire or the remote wire. If its on but not making any then its a problem with the RCA's or speaker connections.

If its making a little noise then you could have the gain set too low, something set wrong on your head unit or possibly have wired the subs in series which would be an 8 ohm load and that would be about 100 watts to each sub.

it sounds like its getting 30watts to the speaker, I can hear it trying but its not loud at all. I have the gain all the way up and the remote bass all the way up.

These are the same exact wires I used with the previous amp which worked fine. I tested the power and ground and they get 14v while the amp is on and trying to play. I only hooked up 1 speaker to test which is only 4 ohms. The HU is a new pioneer and worked fine with last amp on the same RCA cables. I guess i could try a diffrent source.

You shouldnt have the gain all the way up. If you started out like this you may have blown your sub.

If youre getting some output then its probably not your head unit.

Best way is to temporarily hook up your old amp with the same wires and h/u settings and if it works your amp may be faulty.

thats kinda hard since I sold it to a friend and we hooked it up in his truck already. and the gain did not come all the way up, i started all the way down and slowly turned it up to hear anything
