good brand subs?

I used to have some cheap DUAL subwoofers powered by a 1200w sony amp. I'm getting rid of the box&subs. From what I hear bandpass is known for sloppier bass. I will probably get a sealed. I was wondering what is a good brand subwoofer that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I really need that leg. lol
(And what type of box would be better? I was thinking when I get enough money to get a mdf box and cover it w/ fiberglass for a custom look. Will this work?)

ive never used polk subs. Are they pretty good. I know that I'm HIGHLY impressed with my speakers. I wish they made a HU and I would be good to go.

Polk does not need to make a h/u! SPEAKER specialists (well and amp specialists now:D )!

Yes the Polk line of subs are excellent sound quality subs. Ill put them up against any sub at twice their price.

One thing too remember...the sound you get...is not just related too the sub. Box is just as...if not more important then the sub itself. Find a good sub.. (kicker, adire, image, Polk(cough),alpine, and many more too list....but be sure the box is too the spec's of the sub (designed for the sub) and built properly. You can get a great sub... with a poor box and come up with cow dung! One needs the other.....hope this helps you out some.

Check this out, you will not be dissapointed, and best of all you can ebay both items..

    First Off

Orion 12" H2.2 (Dual 2 OHm Voice Coils for a theoretically 1 ohm load in parallel), personnaly I have measured it and have found mine to be .8 ohms)....so I left it at 2 for my set up.

And the box that meets the manufacturers recommendations.

    Subzone Vented Box

Again, I can vouch for this, as it is sitting in my audi's trunk, has been for about a year and a half, using a JLAudio 500 to push it. Go with a 1000 if you can afford it.

My buddy has the Jl 1000 pushing the JL W7 and my orion/JL set up is IMO as good, and less expensive.

In closing, there are many good amp/sub combos out there, and one already hit the fact that the box is as important as the sub. So ensure you get the right box for the right set up. BTW the subzone is at least 3/4" MDF

try building a box and then covering w/ fiberglass to fit your trunk. I hear this works.
