This accident happened 3 blocks from my house yesterday afternoon.

Went through the scene about 5-10 minutes after it happened yesterday, Oh My God!! This mornings Newspaper said the 2 kids in the Durango were ejected and laying in the street, it was not a pretty sight. Even money says that they were not in care seats or buckled-in. I can't understand people not wearing their seat belts, and not having kids belted is simply criminal. Went out on a service call at 9PM, got back around midnight and Stetson Hills Blvd. was still blocked off and the Durango was still on it's roof, not sure about the Honda.
This really upset all of us here, I just can't handle seeing children hurt, especially when it's a parent/adult that's at fault and the whole mess could have been easily avoided.
A really sad day for 2 or more families and a sobering reminder of how quickly your life can change...or end. Buckle up folks, and make sure your kids are too.

Frank,
I think most people simply believe that they have control over their bodies in a collision and it just isn't true. The forces in a crash are tremendous.
I didn't realize you live in the Springs. You must be dreading the onslaught of vacationers to your fair city starting next weekend.
I have always enjoyed the variety of offerings your area provides for sightseeing and nature.

It is a great place to live and the tourism industry is the life blood of a lot of the smaller businesses in the area.

My boys buckle up or my bus does not move.....PERIOD! My two older ones want to ride the front passenger but I will not allow that either with the airbag present. I love my kids and would never put them in harms way.
What really pisses me off is the number of times I am out and see young ones in the back seat just roaming around having a party, or the ones that have an infant or toddlar sitting on their lap in the front seat. Either way just shows how ignorant some parents are and that they think that the laws of the road just somehow do not apply to them."Its worked so far but we're not out yet."

The local news is reporting that alcohol may have been a factor. No big surprise there.

My buddy told me his stepsister got in an accident last night with her 3 year-old son. She ran into a telephone pole and neither were buckled up. I guess she's fine and her son broke his leg.
Talk about being lucky. I think she should be punished for not buckling up her child. -
here is a wreck I was in 4 years ago
wreck
Other guy ran a stop sign and t-boned us at 50 mph. Inpact was directly into my 2 year old sitting area. Ambulance, cops, everyone were complimenting us for having our son fastened in his car seat correctly. He had very minor shoulder contusion. My wife's head slammed into the door and screwed up her neck and jaw and I tore some ligaments in my shoulder requiring surgury. Seatbelts do what they are suppose to do. It also sickens me when people do not seatbelt their children.Matthew

Our vehicals don't move without the kids strapped down in their seats. My wife is very good about buckling up and I have even gotten better. Its becoming almost habbit for me but sometimes I will slip up and realize something just does not feal right.
