placement of RM6800 as surrounds
Well, a while back, I sold my LSiFX because of size and WAF. I finally picked up a used RM6800 system to use as surrounds in my LSi15 system....I went this route because WAF was high on these speakers, tehy are small and are currently the best small satellites that Polk offers.
In reviewing the online manual, I dont see a mounting height recommendation. What is the recommended height for surround duty? My ceiling is 9ft. Is there any disadvantages to mounting them high (to be less conspicuous) and pointing them downward toward the listener? I will be using one of those pivotable mounts.
Thanks for any insights.

I currently use a pair of RM-6600 as rear speakers for the same reason.
I have mine mounted about 1' from the ceiling (that is where the pivot mount is located) and it is angled at the ceiling twords the listening position.
They sound very good this way with decent dispersion of sound. It is also very hard to localize where the sound is coming from. I think for surround use, they work better bouncing off the ceiling than they do pointed straight at the listening position.

So Michael, your RMs are pointed upward to the ceiling so that the sound waves would reflect off the ceiling before reaching the listener? Interesting...I dont think I have enough room for that because the seats are too close to the RMs but I will give it a try.
1 ft down from my ceiling is still 8 ft off the floor...you dont think that is too high?System 1: Martin Logan Vantage, Rotel RC 1070, B&K Reference 200.2, Music Hall DAC 15.2, Yamaha 2300

Just adjust the angle so it hits the ceiling and reflects back to the listening position. (think of pointing at the ceiling (you have a mirror ceiling right? ) with a laser pointer and the dot reflecting on the listener.) 8' is not at all to high, just take the extra foot to the ceiling in account when you put the distance into your AVR or Pre-amp. It really does sound much better.

BTW - if you are having trouble visualising what I am talking about, let me know and I will snap a picture and post it.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Got the visual...I dont think it will work in my room as once reflected at a decent angle, its at my coffee table, and not my listening position..but I will play around once I mount it....Maybe I will go 1.5 foot from the 9 ft ceiling....System 1: Martin Logan Vantage, Rotel RC 1070, B&K Reference 200.2, Music Hall DAC 15.2, Yamaha 2300
