Your system is already excellent. I don't see any reason to upgrade. Leave everything the way it is and buy more DVDs and CDs and enjoy them.

I have the RT5000p system and love it, I also have extra center speakers and love them. I would recomend changing the amp first so you can see the advantage with the current speaker set up. then change the speakers. then figure out what you think is the weakest link and change that. then start the process all over again.:D
    What about wires?
    power cords?
It really is never ending but the benifit is you do not have to sell anything till you see what the new component sounds like. (you may not ever sell of the old equipment.)

If you want a complely new sound I would upgrade the speakers. Get some really good speakers (whatever brand trips your trigger) and put them in your front location. (phanotom center for now - polk rears) If you really dig the sound, (your current amp runs the new speakers fine) get a center. If not, get a new amp and then a center.

Some amps just sound better with different speakers. If you are even thinking of upgrading the speakers, I would get them first, then the amp.

Magnepan (if you can deal with the placement of them) sound great. I also really like Vandersteen. (the Vandersteens really need the right amp though - I have heard them sound like crap with the wrong amp.)

Just listen and then get what you like. I am guessing bass will not be much of an issue for your speakers, so you may look at really nice 2 way speakers (with your IB sub) and see if you like the way they sound.

Magnepan are electrostatic speakers, and I think Martin Logan make better electrostats. Make sure to check out both first before considering a purchase. Also, the Martin Logans are easier to place and do not take up as much space.

If you like on-walls, the Martin Logan Frescos are pretty awesome, as are the Vienna Acoustic Weberns (better for music than the Frescos). The Weberns are around $800 a speaker, where the Frescos are about $1000 per speaker.

If you want to stay in the Polk family, I'd certainly recommend checking out the LSi series.

Definetly upgrade speakers if you looking for a different sound. Your equipment is excellent and you'd have to spend a chunk of money to improve the amp. Different speakers will make the biggest impact/ difference. The speakers you have now are good, but there are many out there that are much better. (Just ask Steveinaz about his new Energy C9's) The hard part is choosing and demoing the new speakers. If you go used pretty hard to retrun if you don't like. If you buy new make sure they have a good return policy.

P.S. A whole set-up of Lsi's would really improve not only HT but 2 channel as well.

Maggies are planar magnetic speakers. Electrostatic require high voltage to charge the stator to operate, the Maggies do not, check here for a detailed explanation. Class over, thanks.

    speakers all the way.

you sound like a guy that might be happier outside the realm of Polk speakers, even the LSI's (sorry Matt)

If that's the case, I cannot help ya.
My Rti's and F/x's are the nicest speakers i've ever owned or heard- LSI's included.

I would recommend BOSE to you- but you're not the one that killed my rabbit and boiled him on the stove. ;)
