I wonder if you can cite British court rulings in the US. I might just have to try it some day.

But your honor, I was familiarising myself with my 7 year old Honda Civic.

Maybe he was wrong to be going so fast for no reason other than "familiarization" , but I am glad the court let him go, if he is taking the advanced training for driving as well as firearms I suspect he puts it on the line others regularly.

Sorry, breaking the law is breaking the law. Virtually every police department has access to a closed track for "familiarization".

By that logic, i could do anything in my car and not get a ticket, after all, I spent a few years teaching the Colorado Highway Patrol how to drive. Some how I don't think that excuse will work.

Shoot, since he took the advanced driving classes, he should have known what an idiot he was.

All in all, he sounds like he thinks he's some hot s%^t rambo and the rules don't apply to him. The best of the best understand discipline.

I realize that, all I'm saying is that saying using "I'm trained, so it doesn't apply to me" is a crap excuse and the guy got off really lucky.

It would be a glorious day to have cops get in trouble for the idiotic things they do on the roads. I think they are the worst at using turn signals. I always like being cut off by them too.

OK and he may have very well got by with one, I cant say for sure, and yea, there are a some "John Wayne" syndrome officers. I dont have any problems with those who agree with your point either, but for those who just want to generalize and bemoan LEO's in general,

    Go **** yourself.

BFD, 159mph on a "M" road in England is slighty over the average speed most folks drive. I've driven 120+mph there and get passed all the time like I'm standing still.

    Eff that cop.

I'm a little biased (to make a long story short), one of my best friends got t-boned by a speeding cop, and guess what, they are seriously trying to frame my friend and make the accident out to be his fault and sue him for everything he's got. My friend just bought a house and his wife is about ready to pop, but every dime goes to the lawyers. The cop wasn't wearing his seatbelt and broke his hand on the windshield. My friend's insurance company even offered to settle with the cop for $75k (before trial) and the greedy **** turned it down.

In AZ we have quite a few of the Officer involved accidents and I can't help but think that the problem is more with the officers than it is with the other drivers.

If they want to **** at civilians about driving safe based on the surrounding conditions, they need to admit that it might be a bad idea to fly 80mph through town while trying to weave between both sides of the road..........

I just get the feeling that this is one of the type of cops that ends up shooting an unarmed 13yr old for stealing a car, that's all. If those are the cops you want, you can have them.

One of my good friends from high school went from about 150 IQ to about 50 and is trapped in a wheel chair for the rest of his life because some yahoo in an ambulance was doing the same thing and ran a stop sign T-boning the car at about 60 MPH. No lights, no sirens. They got off free as a bird because they said that they were "training".

That may be why I have a different perspective.
