Hi,
I connected my receiver to my brand new dell computer today, and I have to turn the receiver up to 6 just to be able to barely hear it. I am using some car RCA cables that I had lying around, but they are good Rockford Fosgate gold plated connectors. With the CD player I have hooked up to it I turn it up to 2 and it is loud. Has anyone else had this similar problem?
Thanks,
Pat

nevermind guys. I was hooking up RCA cables to my computer DUH!! ok so i got a cable that had a headphone like connection on one end and then RCA's on the other and it is working like a champ. Does that mean I have mono sound now?
    Thanks,

It depends on the cable you bought. I belive some come in stereo but mine seems to be a wierd mono like sound. It takes one channel (either left or right) and blends it across to the two speakers creating one channel mono instead of stereo mono if that makes sense...

On the headphone-plug end, if the metal tip is broken up into 3 sections by 2 dark colored inset rings (this kind of connection is also known as TRS - for "Tip, Ring, Sleeve"), then it's a stereo cable and all is well. If it's only broken up by one ring into two sections, it's mono. However, if it were a mono cable only one speaker would emit sound, so as long as both speakers are working then you've got stereo.

What soundcard do you have? You might also want to experiment with sending digital SPDIF into your reciever.
