PSW-10 problem with hookup

I received my new PSW-10 yesterday and was so excited I hooked it up right away. I used the Y-Adapter to hook it to my Onkyo SR501. When I powered up the Receiver and Subwoofer, the subwoofer made a terrible thumping sound along with a relatively high pitched noise. I had to unplug the subwoofer to stop it.
I've now tried every connection I can see possible and get the same result every time. I did have a fairly low-powered KLH subwoofer attached and didn't have any problems with it.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with the PSW-10 or with me?
Thanks for your help!!

That's kinda wierd, you might have an amp problem, did you push the connectors all the way in? It's kinda redundant I know, e-mail Ken Swauger, he'll take care of it pronto.

Not sure if your still working on this but you might try leaving the Y adapter out and just hooking the lead up to the left input.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH
