RT series VS the RTi series question

A few weeks or months back, somebody (maybe Russman or John Strong) made it clear they did not like the "i" series, the words I recall are " don't get anything with the blue cone" that would mean the new look and drivers for the "i" series.

Now the question, is there really that big of a difference in the two series? is the newer and improved that bad?

I am looking at getting a pair of bookshelf speakers the 55 or 55i and was hoping to get reason for the strong opinion against the "i" series.

Anyone opinion is welcome.

Thanks again

I don't see/hear any problems with the new 'i' series.

They tweeked the xovers a bit I think, but they still sound great. Some people thought the original non-'i' tweeters were a bit bright......

    Cheers,

    Russ is correct.

The X-over tweek warmed up the sound a bit, and the blue cones are new, special formulations of Dynamic Balance lab standards.

I love my 55i's, but then I'm biased, right?

Were the materials differ from the old RT to the new RTi? the driver from the old look black and the new look blue? and what about the wood work?

I would most likely agree that both series are nearly the same, with a few minor tweeks. I was hoping to find out what "whoever" said the "stay away from the blue cones" was talking about. They had a very firm opinion and I wanted to know why.

Were the materials differ from the old RT to the new RTi?

Yes, the cone materials were a reformulated polymer, reformulated in some scientific way. To differentiate em, we made em blue. (I think they look cooler, too. I use my 55i's with the grilles off to show em off.)
and what about the wood work?

The position of the new RTi's is "Real Wood, Real High Performance," because we made a point to make them all with real wood cabinets at reasonable prices. Everyone else was selling vinyl cabs, we went wood (without jacking the price).

Don't you worry. Someone will come on here and tell me I'm wrong about something. Just you wait. :(
