Nice rig! I'm very partial to NAD gear myself. Not that there aren't many other good brands out there, but IMO NAD is hard to beat for the money.

    How big is the room?

Great gear, excellent effort but invest another $25+ and pick up a better rack.

A cheap, kick **** rig is the goal for alot of us....don't ruin it.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

nice job.. NOW GET TO WORK!!! :p

side note. the pawn shops here never offer deals like your NAD amp. Here that amp would have been priced around $150 - $180. that's why i never try and shop at em. but you scored big time.

    *cough* XRt12 *cough* ;)

That's a heck of an office system. I think that would rival many 2 channel systems of members on here.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I work out of the house. VOIP and virtual private network technology have come a long way.
I spend most of my day with two pcs running. Having some tunes helps keep my sanity. I do have to be ready with the mute key!
I have been looking at racks. In about two weeks, Ultimate Electronics should be clearing out what's left. The speakers will have to wait till after my 16 year old gets a car. I hope this shows how well watching the flea market can fill a need. There are great people there with good quality used gear that you can trust.

That's a nice office system... but not very "budget" in my mind. Sure, you got some good deals, but you still spent nearly $870!

I haven't paid that much for all of my gear, total... @ work and @ the house....
    Ludicrous gibs!

The original office system was a set of RTI-4s on closeout from C.C. for $110, a $30 cd player, and a sad Yamaha ht-5650 I got off Ebay for $15 dollars from a freight reclamation place(non-working). It cost $22 to ship. Looked like it had been dropped out of a trunk at 60 MPH, but it was an easy fix to get running. Turned out I did all my listening on this rig, so the goal became good quality 2 channel that would sound great without breaking the bank. The original setup was indeed budget, this one's "budget" part is budget for a mid-fi quality rig.
The Delphi Skyfi is low end, but I'm not sure I'm gonna stick with pay radio. The Nad tuner is much better than any I've had around in years, and local radio has suddenly seen the writing on the wall and has started playing some music again.

You know...I kinda like that rack....in a minimalist industrial sort of way...

    MARKER
    How big is the room?

The room is 10' X 12". Not a lot of space. It's a bedroom over the garage. It's the only room in the house I can turn up some volume without an angry visit from the Mrs. That's the main reason I abandoned the HT setup downstairs in the family room. She does't even like to use the HT for movies. (TOO LOUD)
The next house WILL have a room for all things audio.
But on the brighter side, I got in some overtime in today, so I guess it's time to start looking for better rack. I hadn't given it much thought before, since no one every sees it but me.
Thank you everyone for your input.

if you want to keep the rack.. i'd say.. get a couple slabs of nice looking wood to fit each shelf.. and lay it underneath your gear.. the wood will give it some stability and look good at the same time.

I'm thinking like 1/2 to 3/4" thick oak, cherry, walnut.. etc.

It's a good idea, but this stand has outlived it's purpose in holding stuff inexpensively while I saved for better components. Not very flashy , but better that cinderblocks and boards(spray painted black, of course).:D
The guys here have always steered me in the right direction.
The right rack will look good, AND dampen vibration.
Anybody looking for a lightly used "minimalist industrial " stand?
