Does anyone know why the Polk site recos the Ultimate Foundation 30in. speaker stand for the LSI9 when the speaker weight is 33lbs. and this stand supports up to 25lbs? Does anyone know the appropriate speaker stand for these speakers?

Appreciate any help...thank you.

I have Sanus SF (series) speaker stands, and I think the Lsi9 speakers sit well on them.

The Sanus SF has different stands with different heights. It is suggested to choose the speaker stands that place the speaker tweeters at your ear level.

I have the UF28's and filled them with 25lbs of lead shot. The stand weighs in at 30lbs each now. Talk about a beast with my LSi9 sitting on top. Definitely helped the sound comparing to these wooden stands I borrowed temporarily. The depth of the speaker is so much more pronounced.

I personally use skylan stands. You can get them custom made to fit the 9s, and then they will make the correct base plate to match, you can also custom choose the height. If I remember correctly mine are 34in heigh, and the I have lsi9s up front so of course the top plate is to match those.

Before the skylans I used VTI which where cheap but good build quality, but for some reason I never liked the look or feel of metal. The top plate was also way to small (4x6).

I had my Skylan stands built 28" tall with a top plate the same dimensions as the bottom of my LSi9's. This brings the tweeter at approx ear level.

Gaara, Skylan stands are built locally within the city. You may be a close neighbor.

The "correct" speaker stand doesn't exist....it's all relative to you physically. Excellent suggestions from the gang....go with what is available to you. Just use a tape measure for listening position, as it isn't an exact science.

I think mass loaded stands are a plus IMO. It's always nice to have as an option.

In regards to the Polk speaker stand question....a column is a very solid foundation, and in this case, it's not going to collapse with the addition of a couple more lbs. I imagine the Polk common sense has kicked in upon the suggestion of that particular stand.

The stands are also heavy thus less prone to falling over if struck. I think that ALL stands are subject to falling over, unless they are heavier than what's falling into them....that's not often possible. If you have to use stands, you have to use stands....not much you can do.

As a side note....unfortunately you chose a user name variation that's doesn't have the best reputation in here, hope you are legit, but don't be suprised if you meet some skepticism.

Welcome to the forum....and just "search" for "spiderman" if you are an inquiring mind.

Thanks for your responses...I guess if u fill the stand with sand or shot I imagine the weight bearing issue will be less of a factor (my original issue was the UF stands say they hold 25 lbs. while the LS9 is 32 lbs.).

And I did not bother to search for Superman since not much I can do about it now, but I assure you, this Spidey is legit...but thanks for the heads up Dorok, and your help. Nice system btw.

To say the UF's can only hold 25lbs is kinda rediculous. If these massive **** can't handle it with their construction, I don't know what could handle it. Take my word for it, they handle it FINE! I also have a small cat who LOVES to jump on and off of things, front and sides. I don't even have the 9's fixed to the stands at all, they're just sitting on top otherwise, I wouldn't be able to get to my only windows for air/light for the room.

Before I purchased my LSi9s I shopped around for the stands a lengthy amount of time and the ones i chose were the right height, uncommon and designed elegantly

I've been looking to upgrade stands as well for LSi9's. Thanks for posting these tips. I had been looking at an atacama model different from that above, but couldn't find any u.s. dealers. Glad to learn they are offered here. Will also check out the skylar...

    jmierzur,

Noel is no neighbor of mine. I ordered mine online, talked to him through email about my speakers, the height I wanted, and the configuration (2 or 4 post). Fast shipping though, considering he is in Alberta, Canada (right?) and I am in CT in the US.

    Gaara,

I had no idea his products were available on-line. They have been available locally for years.
