H9, my 565 has a "processor in" button on the front panel, so it probably has the loop that you were referring to. I am going to dig out the manual this weekend.

    Thanks,

hi laura . i am somewhat new to this website but i have been around audio for quite some time. the main reason for seperate amplifiers and preamplifiers is to try to avoid interaction between the electronic circuit.s in the different stages of amplification. and using monoblocks allows another degree of seperation by totally isolating the right and left channels from each other. when everything is jammed into one unit the internal electronics can bleed unwanted interference into the other circuit.s that are also packed into the same unit. in laymans terms the wires talk to each other and that can lead to distortion. the more seperation you have in a system the cleaner the sound! if you are looking at seperate amplification i would talk to klaus bunge at odyssey audio he will recommend equiptment based on your system and needs and he might have b-stock items with a twenty year warranty for a lot less money. check out the reviews at audioreview on the khartago and stratos amplifiers i think odyssey has the best cost vs performance in high end audio. good luck p.s on the website for international audio video review they rate the odyssey stratos at class 1b along with the sim moon w 5 and jeff rowland model 9. krell and mark levinson only rate at class 3 this website accepts no advertising and tells it like it is. when it comes to reviews they pull no punches and the odyssey rated very highly. and a bryston while good cant even play in the same yard as the odyssey. also check out the tempest pre amp... odyssey is all about synergy i use the same wire for my speakers and ic.s that is hardwired into my monoblocks and preamp. again good luck

Here are a couple of links that help explain amplifier basics. Read for fun or to gain a better understanding. The explanations aren't too technical. However, for some it may cause more questions than it answers. I found both articles very interesting.

These articles may not answer specific ?'s but the read is interesting anyways

    Enjoy

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
