OK, so I grew up in a place where kids had little oportunity. Here is one of the few oportunities we had. Although we were a small community we actually did some things which I consider worth while. Here is a new pic from my old high school band. When I participated we played a bunch of steelers games. This is the Gator bowl! Just remember, the kids of today are the world leaders of tomorrow! Check out the crowd. This is real impact! Quite festive in my opinion!

Here is a pic of the "Honey Bees" . They will make you forget your name! One of the most professional groups you will ever see perform.

Geez...they all look alike! And much younger than they did farther away....I should be ashamed of myself!

A great looking group! I love those smiling eyes.

    What was your instrument?

I played trumpet. Truthfully I liked the stage band stuff better than playing on a field. Luckily we did both. This is a show band rather than a drum and bugle. Big difference between the two. I will say there are no words to explain what it felt like the first time I played a Steelers game. You walk out on the field and there are people as far as you can see. That was 25 years ago and I still remember the feeling!

    Very nice Chuck!

Looks like the girls all have the same haircut. Is that a Honey Bees thing?

It's great to give these kids a sense of accomplishment. Give them that and it may inspire them to work harder. When Little League starts up around my neighborhood, I'm going to talk to a few coaches to see about doing photos at some of the games and maybe getting them into a local newspaper. Imagine being one of those kids and seeing your picture in a newspaper showing you right after hitting a homerun.

Getting public recognition is the sort of thing that really motivates people, especially kids. It's something they gain esteem from for years, maybe a lifetime!

On the hair thing. To hold a position they must look a certain way. Their daily life could probably be compared to boot camp by the time you consider all the training they go through. It's a tough life for them for sure. Pretty much if they cannot learn to do everything perfectly every time they are out. Seems rough but that is what makes it such an honor to be in their group and why they work so hard.

I really enjoyed being part of my highschool band, we had about 300 members when I was there and were very tough to compete against in competition. I kinda miss those days. I played alto sax.
