R 50
I recently purchased the R 30's at frys when they went on sale. I am using them for my main fronts. I have ci3 for my center and velodnyne for my subwoofer. I need to know if it would be worthwhile to upgrade the R 30's to the R 50's for my fronts. I use my HT 50/50 for movies and music. I have a 20x15 family room.
Thank you for any responses,

depends on what you're driving the speakers with.
normally, in that size of a room and the fact that you have a powered sub, I myself would not. But im a bookshelf speaker junkie in the first place. -
The R50s have a stronger tweeter and are brighter than the R30s. The R50s also have more sonic impact than the R30s. If you are currently driving your R30s to the limit, then the R50s are really a consideration, as they are more powerful.
Some people consider the R30 better than the R50 for music, and the R50 better than the R30 for HT. So if you get a chance, listen to them before you buy, to see if you like them. Personally, I like the R50s, and have them for my fronts, with R30s for surrounds.
The R50s are easy to drive, so you should have no problem driving them with any receiver that is above entry level (of course the stronger the better).Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70 -
I like the R50s better for both music and movies. I auditioned the 30s and liked them too. I'm not sure if there is that much of an improvement, however, to justify an upgrade. If you are in the Bay Area or have a Frys around the price difference really isn't an issue. Today the R50s went on sale at $70/pair. 2 days ago they wanted $400 for a pair of R30s.
Who knows what they are doing, but they offer some ridiculously low pricing for a day or two, then jerk it back up.
