Tube Preamp With Bal Control

Hi all,
I am selling my HT to 2 ch. and thinking to buy a tube preamp like DoDD Audio and AES-3. I really like how they look. However, neither of these preamps come with balance control. My current setups are Yammi rx-v2400 as pre/pro and NAD c272 amp. The source is Ah!4000 and the speaker is LSI15. My Yammi has balance control so I have the ability to adjust the speaker outputs accordingly. I actually made the left output 1db less than my right speaker because of the room acoustic (the right side of the room is an open area and i have limited space to play around with speaker placement). Will I lose center image if I go with one of the preamps mentioned above? Or I have to look for something with balance control in my case? Please advise! Thanks.

Another way to consider getting around this problem is to get a Dodd tube preamp, sell your current amp (if it doesn't have adjustable gain controls) and get an amp with adjustable gain controls on the back (some Parasound and older B&K do this, plus others). Adjust the gain according to test tones from a CD using a Radio Shack SPL meter.

Dodd's preamps are custom built. I bet you could call and discuss what you're looking for with Gary-- If a balance control can be implemented without compromising some other aspect of the design, I bet he could do it for you. Just another thought.
