WTB: Preamp of some sort!

Well after this asinine ordeal with the last preamp, I believe I'm going to get a refund...so that leaves me at square one which is needing a stereo preamp of some sort. I'm basically in the 250-350ish range and so if you guys have some things you're looking to sell let me know! If I can get in on some tubage that'd be cool but I'm entertaining all offers.

yeah 400 is basically the REAL max, but interesting...I'd think about that preamp but because it has the word Philly in it there's no way in hell I could ever buy it. (Don't ask long story...aequitas would understand)

Any idea what a yamaha c-85 pre-amp would sell for? I have one in ok shape. Top of the line back when stereo was your only option......
I would rate it in fair shape. Purchased in the late 80's to run my SDA1b's (with matching m-85). If interested I will snap a few pics and post them.

Carver C-11. $250 + shipping. I am the only owner and I have never used it.
I hear you loud and clear about ANYTHING with the word "Philly" in it.
George Grand (of the Jersey Grands) -
B&K PT5 can be picked up in that range. (I'm not selling mine)- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

How would you guys compare the Dodd ELP and the Audio Experience Symphonies preamps? They're right about in the same range and both are tube pres.

Its hard to say which would be better for more modern music. Would you guys with tubes find that the tube advantage is with more of the jazz/classical or do they just sound great on all types of music?

Tubes always sound great although that C-11 is a great deal at the price!
madmaxVinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -

Gimme a week and I can let you know about AE symphonies VS Dodd... Mine's supposed to ship today or tomorrow. As for the AE, I'm still breaking it in/ tweaking around with it, but so far I'm very pleased- It's dead quiet, solid construction and has no trouble with the fairly low input impedence on my Adcom 555. This is my first foray into tube pre's (outside of guitar/ recording gear) and I already like it better then just about any SS pre I've used.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19
Gallo Ref AV, Frankengallo Ref 3, LC60i : Bryston 9b SST : Meridian 565

To help out Michael (and maybe others), can someone look up the blue book on the Yamaha C-85? Thanks.

Thanks for the prices. I would rate mine in Average condition and based on the way it sounds I would purchase it for $50. Guess it stays, sorry... :D
