Magnetically Shield an LSI7?

Guys, I have a single LSI7 that I'd really like to use on top of my TV as a center speaker.

Problem: It distorts the top three inches of picture on the tv. I won't put a shelf on the wall in our apartment because: It looks awkward with our layout, and the studs are not centered behind the tv very well.

Is there any way to magnetically shield this speaker?
Tim

LSI7 x 3 (fronts)
rt25i x 2 (surrounds)
SVS PB-10 NSD
Harmon Kardon 235 pre/pro
NAD amps
Xbox 360
Pioneer DV-578A (DVD, SACD, DVD-A)

    Tim,

Is this the same one I sold you. I had it right under my television and never noticed anything different, but never placed it directly on top of the television either.

The only way I know of to "shield" it is to put bucking magnets on the backs of the woofer and tweeter.

Aren't they already supposed to be shielded? I think they are...

If that's the case, there's probably not much more you can do to the drivers. Could it be the inductors in the crossover causing the problem? Is the distortion always present, even if the speaker's not playing? If it is always there, then it's not the inductors. You could contact Ken S and see if there's anything else you could do.

All Lsi speakers are designed to be shielded. However, this is a post from Ken from three years ago:

I'm sorry you're having a problem with the LSi C speaker. This is the first instance of this kind of problem and I can assure you it is designed to be video shielded. Sometimes the shielding cup may become dislodged from the back of the driver or the reverse polarity magnets may not have been charged properly. Please telephone us at 1-800-377-7655 and I'm sure we can be of help.
    Regards, Ken Swauger

The tv distorts (top three inches get green) when I place the LSI7 on top of it. This happens even when the speaker is not wired to the receiver. It happens with all of my LS7's - I tried all three. It was not a problem with my old cs245i or cs400i.

I can't put a shelf in front of the tv, no place for it.

If I elevate it three inches above the tv, the colors become normal.

Can anything be done to help it without making a shelf?

I believe the center channels are shielded with a bucking magnet AND a shielding cup, where as the bookshelfs/towers are only shielded with a shielding cup...

    May be wrong though...

but none the less, they werent exactly -made- to sit on top of your TV ;)
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Yea I noticed that they were listed as shielded speakers and found out that they weren't exactly shielded when I moved my system downstairs for a while and set a LSI7 down in front of the tv... my brother pointed out that the tv was going purple so I quickly moved it. I guess they are meant to be at least a foot from tvs and other stuff affected since they are made to be either fronts or surrounds.
