disable, use the xo in your receiver....the disable switch bypasses the xo in the sub. since you will be usins the one in your receiver you don't want to you the on in ur sub, that would filter the signal twice and thats no good.

FYI, the only reason you would use the XO on your sub is if you had no line out on your receiver, or chose not to use it, and ran speaker cables from your receiver to your sub then out to your speakers.

I connected my velodyne sub to my Denon's FRONT PRE-OUT connectors. That way it gets the same full-range signal as the front speakers. I use the crossover in the sub to roll-off its response above 42 Hz.

I like to drive my fronts full range and therefore don't want to use the receiver's crossover (which often has only a few crossover settings, such as 80Hz). If you have smaller fronts, then using the receiver's crossover makes more sense.

I have recently discovered by enabling the crossever on the sub and setting the crossover to 80hz that the base is much titer and cleaner it is an imediate diffrence at all listining levels!
it seems to remove a static like sound in this setup!

try it both ways and see for your self!
