Does Monster make a good Amp?

I've been listening to my LSi 15s for a couple of days now, and let me say they sound fantastic! :D

I am using a HK AVR 635 for the moment, which I may upgrade to the NAD T773 after I get a chance to try it out.

Someone I was talking to suggested that I might try seperates, and I'm considering getting a whole bunch of outlaw monoblocks.

Enter the monster amplifiers.

I work for a Big Box eletronics store while putting myself through university and supporting my habit/addiction/hobby. I can take advantage of accomodation pricing on some products. Monster amps are one of these products.

I am thinking about the 5 channel MPA5150 to drive my LSi15s, LSiC and LSi9s. I am wondering what people think of the monster amps, or of Marsh design amps, as the monster stuff was designed by him.

If I do go seperates I may keep the AVR635 for processing.

Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Julian

You can get better for your buck from almost any other seperate manufacturer. Do a search, there are tons to pick from.

You won't get much if any advice in regards to Monster products 'round these parts.

Monster blows in so many other areas that I wouldn't even consider any of their products, good or not.

Even though the whole Monster Law Suit mess is ongoing....
Don't be too quick to bash something, regardless of the manufacturer, untill you've spent time listening to it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't support Monster or condon their actions, but I'd be quite the hypocrit if I said the amp sucks swamp water.

I know someone here owns one, and while it might not be my personal choice, he expressed alot of positive comments in it's performance.

    JRausch owns a Monster amplifier.

He marched it up against an Adcom big boy and it seemed to fair pretty well....you gotta make your own final decisons when it comes to gear.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    I bet it sounds awesome.

I also bet that you can get an amp that specs out and sounds just as good or better, for half the price.

I'll put money on it, and that ain't no !@#$.

Forget about Monster amps. Go with adcom, rotel, carver, NAD, parasound, B&K, or any of the other gazillion companies that make just as good or better audio gear at a fraction of the cost.

if the price is incredibly low. get it. yes you can do better... but price often dictates what we buy. at least for me it does.

some people can't stop drooling over Monster products. and won't settle for anything else. my friend is like that.

Monster signature power stabilizer, Monster signature surge protector, all moster IC's, speaker cables, etc. the ONE thing he did right was to get a B&K Ref50 and a B&K 200.7 amp.

Now if he'd just ditch his wires.. he'd be my best friend. :p
