    you read it right...

Some Gents have reported much success with Cat 5. I'm a skeptic though until I hear for myself.

Very low inductance, and with enough pairs, low resistance as well. Has been known to suffer from high capacitance affecting bass regions. This is one of the wire setups that can change how your system sounds.

The best comprimise I've found is for bi-wireable speakers and running the Cat5 to the treble and some low wire count 10-12 gauge to the bass. I only replaced this setup do to ugly as sin looks.

Very interesting indeed. I would think that be pricey, though. But, that's coming from someone using Radio Shack speaker wire...lol.

12 gauge stranded copper from PartsExpress (SoundKing) .

No complaints here with the SoundKing wire . Good strand count , good flexability , xint sound for $$$ .

SoundKing always seems to be in the top 10-8 when comes to anual reviews and wire shoot-outs .

    *edit*

Gonna try some solid wire one of these days as I do like my AQ Corals for IC's .

The Speakers are surviving until the SA amp is delivered. Then then the bottom end will be driven with whatever 12 GA is available. I haven't noticed x-tra capitance leading to extra bass.

CAT5 sucks in an audio application, oh wait IMO. It certainly WORKS, but it is unsuitable to me, and my application. CAT5 did not release me from the Devil.

The best indicator of good things in audio, is to experience or hear those things for yourself....not read a host of opinion, opinion, opinion.....has it sunk in yet?

HBomb - C'mon now, put a LITTLE effort into this subject, beings you have MILES of it nearby.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Was using 16ga cable from wal-mart of all places. (16ga lamp cord for surrounds.)

Just purchased 10ga white from Blue Jeans Cable for my front stage and subwoofer. (arrived today, have not hooked it up yet.) Once I get a feel for how it is to work with, I will purchase more 10ga or possibly 12 ga. for the surrounds.

    Michael

(also plan to replace the jumpers on my LSi's with the 10ga. wire from Blue Jeans)
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

    Voted "Other"

I have on my stereo/SDA rig 10 guage SoundKing wire. Cheap and effective and mine came free after helping a friend wire his 7.1 HT Rocket/Onix home theater. He had something like 78 feet left over and handed it to me and said "Here, keep it."

Other wire is 12 guage StreetWires Ultra Cable twisted pair dual jacketed wires.

    Esoteric 12 guage Super Cable

Scosche 14 guage speaker wire from when Scosche was making speaker wire.

Yeah, most of it is car audio wire but it has many of the same properties of the more expensive home brands and I didn't pay out my nose for it.
