Using a Samson or equiv for low side?

Can anyone think of a bad reason to use a Samson or Crown amp for the low Freqs on the SDA's? Seriously toying with this idea.

YEP, They are also reproducing a midrange signal of some sort and I wouldnt put a Pro Amp to do that job.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Hey Sean, waiting for the weather to warm up a little so I can get the boat out. I'm finishing up my Winter project of refinishing my SDA 1B's. The vinyl on the sides needed to be fixed and it was just easier to cover them with wood. Just trying to be careful so they don't get too heavy. Let me know when you're up this way again.
Sid, I agree with your thinking of a pro amp not being the equivelent of a dedicated home stereo amplifier but I would imagine there are some pro amps out there right now that will give any medium priced home amp a run for the money when it comes to power output/sound quality. The Crown K2's have some good reviews on Audioreview.com other than the "sleep" feature although that can be bypassed. I guess some Crown's are even used to power a high dollar ht system here and there although I've only read about it and never listened in person. I have biamped my 3.1's on the bottom with Adcom, Denon Mono blocks, Hafler, Citation, and Soundcraftsmen and didn't notice a difference of sound quality, although the Soundcraftsmen supplied the most impact as far as bass and it was by far the cheapest. I sold it when I scaled down and would jump on another one if I could find it on Ebay. SVS sells Samson and Crown with their subs which tells me that for the money these are some pretty decent amps although they are only used for low freqs with the SVS.
Someone else can chime in on what the bottom connections run with the SDA's if they supply much of a mid signal. I know with just the lower amps on, the speakers reproduce little if any mid or high info, at least on my 3.1's Now if both amps for full range are turned on I'm wondering if that somehow changes the whole output of the lower amp to the mids. If not, I'm confident a pro amp can do a better job on the bottom, dollar for dollar. If I had the money to buy one for testing purposes only I would do that but I have to make one purchase so I'm trying to slowly go at this.SDS-400, SDA-1B, SVS 20-39pc+, B&K Ref 50, Denon 2900
