All Texas stores are closing - they plan to be done and gone by June 1st.
Good time to get your KEF on, or pick up that dvd player on the cheap.
Cheers,
Russ

Saw a sign on the side of the road locally regarding one of the two local SoundTrack stores closing as well. My brother works for a local car audio joint and says the rumor mill has been in full swing about Ultimate/Soundtrack for awhile. He heard 30 stores nation wide are closing. Perhaps Jerry Rausch (JRausch) will chime in and let us know what's up.

Most of the items were only 10% off so nothing too exiting. Denon 5803 was below $3k, that's about the only decent deal I noticed.
-
I'm not surprised but I would expect slightly bigger discounts down the road a bit.

Thanks for the update Sami. I used to stop in, and look at their open box tables on occasion, but even for near broke items, heavy cosmetic damage, missing parts - 10-15% off, a joke.
I'll give it another week or two, and then check in.
Cheers,

32 stores (out of 64) will be shutting down real fast like. They're completely getting out of the KC market and they just opened up a hair over a year ago. I had good expectations for them but this is what happens when you open to many stores to quick and put all the money on credit. OOPS!Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.
Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.
Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener. -
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the economy and competition from places like Best Buy and CC really but a dent in their sales. Online sales may have taken some of their customers as well. Too bad because they did carry some decent gear.

Ultimate Electronics in Murray, UT (burb of Salt Lake City) was where I bought my first set of Polk Speakers.
They have a great selection, and have people that know what they're talking about. I got a great deal on the speakers that I originally purchased, and ended up buying several large purchase via them.
Sad to see them winding things down.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Not in my hood...
Found some info on their demise... not pretty.

The SLC store closed totally yesterday. My brother picked up a Monster Power 7000 for $600. The Murray Store is set for june 1st. I would wait about 2 weeks and you will be happy with the discounts. I have had some good sales help over the years there. It is sad to see them go.

That SLC store on 33rd (i think) was in a weird building location. I can't imagine that they ever really did all that great, but the neighborhood was pretty busy.
Did your brother get that 7000 brand new or was it a demo?comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
It was new in a box if you can beleive it. It was just sitting in the corner with a load of open box junk.
I think the only reason the 33rd store stayed open all these years is the business from the folks up in Park City. They had 3 to 4 high dollar system sales a week from up there.
According to a sales guy at the Murray store Good Guys is looking at the Murray and Layton locations for expansion. I've never seen one of their stores how do they compare. Thanks -
wow... the store in Austin opened just a year or two ago. I'll have to stop in to look for some deals.
