    Loud - Very

    Huge - Very

    Rare - Very

    It's all in the title.

    I would add
    Ugly - Very.:D :D

They have to be efficient since they don't have any excursion and power handling. Alot like the pro concert type of drivers.

    no replacement for displacement....

From the backside of the actual woofer it looks like they build a speaker around one of those big exercise balls.

I was in a local stereo store 10 years back, maybe more, but the store is still there. A nice one too! I was in there again not too long ago but didn't buy anything. Well , I was told back on that original visit this stores back room wharehouse is where they still make HARTLEY speakers on a request only basis. The son of a man or it might have been himself bought the rights to make them under that name with copyrighted techniques I'm guessing.
He said they were designed mainly for jazz listening.
I made a comment about woofer size compared to fast response
and he stood fast saying their 2 ft. woofer could go up against
any 12 incher. I only saw the smaller line of bookself sizes and they DID sound pretty nice. AUDIO LAB in WILMINGTON N.C.

I finally got a look at their monsters thanks to this forem. I wish I could get a pair new in the crate at some flee market. I wonder what PINK FLOYD would sound like on them? :D

Good info Tony, you should make yourself known more often.

PF on vinyl, with a tube back end? Fuggetaboutit. You'd **** your flat hat on the spot.

RuSsMaN, I'm still trying to work as much as I can some-what . My job in the home building field has had us delivery guys going about 12 hrs a day and more sometimes for the last 14 yrs down here in the south east. I've always hated to type but i'm getting better and faster . My spelling has some problems sometimes (forem :) instead of forum).I know you guys would overlook the spelling errors for the most part. I think :D I.m hooked on POLKs so I'll keep on checking in more and more.
A used cd ,dvd store has said there is quite a bussiness in the vinyl now. I don't have PF on one but I do remember loving how my (record) collection sounded on a NICE FISHER turntable and
receiver. with FISHER speakers. Then I heard them on ESS AMT1B
speakers.:D . I own them now .(kind of a long story). I still have all my pristine vinyl but its buried behind stuff. about 170 records I have to replay some time through that M504 I got for $250 a while back :D .I owe my revived stereo bug to POLKs monitor 10S I bought at good will for $24 pr.. They were still in the boxs! Not a scratch, and what sound did they put out:D .Now I'm pretty blessed to own alot of speakers.yard sales and good will, EBAY and here lately pawn shops.all at nice $. GREAT HOBBY.RT3000p
are my nicest next to the ESSs. What forum can I talk about all I've acquired in the past 2 or 3 yrs? You'all will not believe it.:D

Whoa..... That first discription had me thinking what have I said or done wrong.... I hope its 2 or 5 also:cool: I can see along with audiophile knowlege I'll be getting lessons in urbania. By the way, Alan Parsons Instamentals CD is on my top 20 list somewhere. That song URBANIA sounded great on those 3000s subs! I'll always play that cd when I get a new set of speakers . Also Don Henleys "Building the perfect beast" cd is a must for me to play on new speakers too. Thanks for the list of discriptions.
