Hi:

Posted this on another thread but...
How do you diagnose a damaged woofer or tweeter? Want to know so I can see if a problem I am having is from my components or from a damaged speaker. The reason I ask is when I am watching satellite TV on some high frequency stuff I get some distortion/buzzing. Just wondering if it's maybe caused by crappy sound from the channel combined with a cheap amp or is it from the speaker itself?

Thanks.
Current Setup:
Main: Monitor 60 (bi-amped on my amp using the extra rear conections for 7.1)
Rear: Monitor 40
Center: Monitor CS1
Sub: SVS 20-39PC+
DVD: Sony DVP-NC675P (use 5 disc to play cds)
TV: Panasonic 32" Tau
Reciever: Marantz SR7500

If it's only high frequency stuff that gets things buzzing then you don't need to check the woofers. How high is the volume level when this occurs?

Seems to happen when I have the volume close to half and over.

At those levels you are causing the receiver to clip. Turn it down.
