Reciever or Amp pre amp

I've got polkaudio SDA's and realistic mach one's. Right now ive got a Yamaha RX-V590 reciever. Whats better, Reciever or Amp Pre amp system?

    pre amp-amp combo will give you better sound in most cases.

    *if you want to sell your SDA's. lemme know. I'm LQQKIN' for a pair in the Northwest.

    I used to have some Mach 1's many years ago back in 78, how are they hanging in there. the 15 inch woofers made I Robot shake the whole house!

    Receiver designs often make compromises for compactness. Poorly designed ones can suffer SQ wise, but there are many very good receivers. It's really a matter of personal preference.

    I prefer separates for the upgrade flexibility they offer in addition to the appeal of each piece serving one purpose. I don't mind making the added space separates demand and laying out added money for the interconnects they require.
