Unbelievable slimballs on Ebay

Just need to vent.

I've had a couple of items on Ebay since last Friday. (my Energy Take 5.2 system)

I strategically waited to list the speakers until I noticed that there were no others up for auction. I spent over 2 hours taking photos, digging up facts, and writing up an accurate description of the system (not easy because Energy recently removed all the info from their website).

I listed mine around noon EST Friday. I didn't notice until today, but some other slimball went and listed his/her set less than 10 hours later. That part, I'm not mad about. I'm mad because when I looked at their auction listing, I noticed something very familiar. They stole my photos AND my description word for word!

I immediatly sent them a nasty message demanding that they remove the photo and shamed them for stealing my description.

But then, I looked again and I realized that they linked the photo directly from my personal webspace. Hmm. I can have fun with this! I went into photoshop and immediately added a text box to the photo saying "buy from billbillw with confidence: 100% + feedback". I saved the photos and FTP'd them up to my webspace. Now that schmuck's listing has my name in it.
I went into my listing and added to the descripiton saying that I was sorry about the annoying message in the photos, but I had to add that because some other ebayer was stealing my photos. I warned them not to bid on the other guy's stuff if they don't have actual photos and he had to steal the description. He might not even have them.

The real kicker is I did another search and found yet another a**hole who stole my description. He had his own photos, but when I looked, I found that they were the Take 5, not the Take 5.2. I wrote that seller and told him he was so stupid that he didn't even know what he was selling and his description was for the wrong speakers.
So anyway, from now on, I'm putting my sig into all my listing photos. What a bunch of BS!

Done venting.

Contact Ebay, that's against the rules. Be aggressive, and use tact....and you will get satisfaction.

I also agree with Shizelbs, overlay your photos....the times they are a changing. Ebay is a piranha outfit....get used to it.

I don't know if there is any action I can take to prevent copying a description. Although it is plagerism, we are not in English class. I'll have to read up on exact Ebay policy on use of photos/descriptions. For now I've solved the problem with the guy linking the photos. I'm just lucky that he wasn't smart enough to save the photo and upload it to another space.

Bill - I've already told you what you CAN do...rock on man, the more time you waste, the more it affects your auction. Good luck you're on your own.

This is the message I just sent to the seller....

I don't believe you are a legitimate seller. I sense that your ad is bogus and cannot be trusted. You should seriously consider cancelling you sale.

That would be great, but I can't make changes to my auction since I have bids. The naked chick would be on mine too.

Since his auction ends after mine, I will probably delete or replace the photo with a prank after mine ends.

Ok, I took dorokusai's advice and did some digging on the Ebay site. There IS a strick policy forbidding the copying of descriptions and photos without permission. It falls under intellectual property rights. I reported both the idiots. It just took me a while to find the right link.

    It's like this...
I sent the clown an email complete with moronic spelling errors. This led the concerned party to fear for his life because some thick-head, illiterate ape was gonna show up at his house and beat the snot out of him. (The fact that I'm a sniveling 98 pound weakling will be our little secret). Hence, fear caused by spelling errors led to quick resolution! See? It's all so perfectly clear! Don't piss me off or you may be the recipient of one of my scathing emails as well!!

I removed them from my personal web space.

As a followup, I got an email from Ebay this morning. They actually followed up and removed both of those listings! I was kind of surprised, but he, they did their job and enforced their rules.

The good guys win. Now if I could get someone to buy my S8.2 sub...
