...after this season folks. Looks like you're gonna have to invest in cable or DBS to catch the action on ESPN.

NBC is getting back in the game with Sunday Night football.

NBC made out on that deal. They get a flexible schedule and will have one of the top three games every week while ESPN does not get that flexible schedule. Wouldn't it be funny to see ESPN combine the broadcast crews from MNF and Sunday Night. Boom!

We were talking about the switch at work today, and one of the guys just went off about them taking our freedoms away. I was like, "WTF are you talking about?! The companies bid on the packages."

Diney owns ABC, which owns ESPN.

It's kind of lame, IMO, but it's more than their right to do it. Just think they're shooting themselves in the foot. Time will tell. Not everyone wants to pay for cable and not everyone can afford to the luxury. I know my mom doesn't have cable and at her age she'll probably never get it because she sees it as a gigantic waste of money. Can't say I blame her...I never watch TV unless it's sports so there's no justification for the extra $50/mo. on my end. Plus if you want any sports packages there's another sizeable charge.

Maybe I'm out of it having grown up without cable my whole life until I went to college and got it for free.

Guess I'll be spending a lot more time at the bar when my team is on.

The Sunday night ESPN crew is the WORST announcing crew there is. Joe Buck is a f*cking MORON, and just hearing Theisman's voice makes me want to kick my tv onto the floor. Madden's no prize, but I'd listen to him all day before 3 seconds of those ESPN putzes. They're consistently rated the worst on TV.

As for people without cable... ESPN comes with most basic cable packages, which usually cost 20 bucks a month. As Doro said, step into the 21st (hell, the 20th) century and get cable, or live without football on Monday night. Hell, I pay an extra 15 bucks a month to get the digital package MOSTLY so I can get the NFL network. Ha!
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

That sucks. ABC could actually broadcast MNF in HD correctly. ESPN HD is a joke.

Some people can achieve self control and not get piss drunk. I probably forgot to mention my buddy's family owns McGillicuddy's here in town. ;)

I don't watch a lot of stuff on ESPN but the NFL games always look incredible. I aggree with the piss-poor quality of the announcers, there's room for a great deal of improvement in the booth!!

Just so everyone knows, if you live say in Denver, and the Bronco's are on Monday night football, your team will be on free TV, more than likely ABC.

But the rest of the country needs to have cable to see it.

It's the same format by the same company; how is one a joke and the other not?

Joe Buck does baseball for Fox. How about Mike Patrick or Paul McGuire? ;)

I would tend to think ESPN will be using Al Michaels and John Madden, but I haven't seen any official news on it.

Seems like everytime I turn on the "ESPN HD" channel, they are not showing real HD programming. Making a picture fit into a 16x9 rectangle does not make it HD. If you compare "Discovery HD" to "ESPN HD", "ESPN HD" seems like a joke. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

Well if you're talking about lack of HD content, that's one thing. On the actual HD broadcasts, I think they tend to do a pretty nice job. Tonight they are having an NBA double-header in HD btw.
