I saw the following....

Hmmm....Akai? I doubt this is the same Akai of the 70s and 80s that was known for its tape decks. I believe the brand Akai has been sold to another entity.

They never made much that was all that great....except perhaps R2R's.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Its worth a look anyways. Well, maybe.

Perhaps Costco will carry it, like they do other Akai products, and someone can check it out for 'free.'

There won't be any 5ch tube amp for $899, that does 100wpc.

The Iron to make that happen would cause the unit to weigh anywhere from 80-120 lbs. Additionally, there aren't any affordable triode tube that can be used as single, 100 w amplifiers.

If anything, it's probably a cheap chip amp, with a tube front end - a couple 12ax7's or some such.

    Cheers,
    Russ
