While I may not really get jazzed about one, I KNOW this is right up the Lovely Wendi's alley.

Bump for those that missed it...

I agree it does look real nice for what it is, but for $600 though, what kind of coventional system could you put together?
I saw on HTF where Audio Advisor had a 40 watt 8 ohm/50 watt 4 ohm Cambridge Audio integrated amp and a matching CA CD player for $199 each, SHIPPED! Pick up a pair of $200 bookshelf speakers, and I'm sure it would it would be a much better rig even if does take up more space.
Now if you could get this radio for about $200, it would be a different story then! -

No DVD, No HD Radio, No XM -
$299 for XRT 12
$79 for DVD
??? for HD Radio
Total = 200+200+300+80 = $780 and NO HD Radio
Maybe the Polk is a deal? -
Price is too high, but a cool idea for a "bedroom" setup.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Why is Polk aspiring to be like Bose? Seriously. This isn't 1970 when the world was all about food, clothing, shelter and 901's. I've never heard the I-Sonic and I don't care too. As with the Bose Wave Radio (my parents have one), $600 is f---king ridiculous. $300 is ridiculous regardless of all it's advertised features- and even then internet radio doesn't even come standard! It's a $50 dollar option! For $600, the thing better give me internet radio, audio trivia, and open my beers on demand.
IMO Polk should stick with their proven formula- offering quality products at REASONABLE prices- value beyond their cost. Bose was a rolemodel for sound 35 years ago. Today, they're a rolemodel for marketing. When someone buys a WaveRadio for $500, because it says "BOSE" (so it must be worth it), i'm sorry, but these people aren't sold on sound. They're sold on name. Why is Polk grasping at straws in a niche market that is not they're bread and butter- either by reputation or on the bottom line? You don't see Lexus suits pacing back & forth in the wee hours of the night wondering how to compete with Hyundai do you?
I wish them all the best- but I say it bombs.
again, jmo. -

I think a lot of people are missing the point with this one. It's a great sounding set-up in small package. I highly doubt this thing would bomb, it's not a pursuit after BOSE or anything as such, it's simply an entertainment system. People said they wanted it, so they're making it, I mean, how many people said that iPods will crash and burn? Not same comparison, I know, but it's along the same lines.

I would be willing to bet a lot of speaker companies would aspire to be like Bose from a fiscal standpoint.
Besides Bose sell tons of wave radios, why not give people an alternative that smokes it in performance? -

So that makes me neutral, right? -
There are more and more wealthy people out there. Hey, if I made double my salary (which isn't saying much) I wouldn't want some cheap **** $100 clock radio if I could have the polk.
madmaxVinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
its been well documented that speaker sales keep going down for the industry. Have to get money from somewhere else,
I'd like to purchase a couple nice Polk T-shirts at a fair price, but all that's offered in the logo gear section is a crappy hat.

Personally, if I were looking to give Polk $600, I would drop in a few more bucks and get a pair if rti8's.
But I guess Polk is looking to market something different then their usual, and to reach a different audience so to speak.Receiver: harmankardon AVR235

Rear Surrounds: polk R20

so... where was the I-Sonic? I know it has a few "bugs", but I didn't see a single one anywhere in Polk HQ...
Admittedly, I totally forgot about it until I was driving home, and it was a bit late to ask Matt what was up...Ludicrous gibs!
