Receiver Set Up: Small or Large

I just picked up my new Polk Audio CSi3 center channel, is it considered a Small or Large speaker? I need to set it on my receiver.

Is there a difference?

My current set up is...

RT25 Bookshelf Fronts with
PSW120 8" Powered Sub

My room in the basement is small so no place for Rears...

Thanks!

it depends on the rest of your system and what you have in terms of a sub and main.

I'd set it up both ways and see which you prefer...

    I just edited my post...

What are the benefits? I've always had the fronts/center on Small.

setting to small will probably blend with your mains better and will present your amp with an easier load to push (because it's not driving those low ohm levels at lower frequencies)

Setting to large may give you a more full sound fcrom the center, better for male vocals and the such.

They are both viable options, and neither will damage the speaker or amp, so just try both and see which you like...

FWIW, my ci3 is set to small along with all my other speakers, as mentioned I let the amp on my sub do the work for the lows.

The RT25i are small speakers, and should be handled as such...

However, with that said, I have run ALL of the Polks that passed through my abode on large for hours on in and they handle it flawlessly. It may add more PUNCH to your music. Try it.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I've often thought about doing that, I just wonder how much info under say 50-60 hz will play on the center or mains during a movie or tv or music

    I left it on small.

I'm not sure if I'm seeing things but I saw some distortion/coloring on top of my HDTV. I took off the speaker and it went away...

I set all speakers on small except for my RTi10 towers. I thought that the CSi3 was shielded. Is your HDTV tube or projection?

He said his fronts are RT25s. I am not sure, but those should be shielded also. I wonder what caused that distortion?

Yep they are also shielded. I just looked them up on the Polk website. I still wonder how that could happen?
