How much for all this equipment? How about forgetting the exotic audio path for a moment and JUST take the power conditioning into consideration! Could you even begin to guess? The wife doesn't mind? She must be rolling in furs and diamonds!

The guy is French right? Been involved with the "oil for food " program by any chance??? :p

Seriously though, not caring too much for horns myself, it would be very interesting to hear them in this environment.

You can build systems different ways to be sure (different strokes) and this system, for all it's impressive features does seem to me to be at odds with the "purist's" approach to audio. IE: the less in the signal path the better...

    1st thought:

I think he would have been better off to just spend all that cash on a really nice music hall and bought his own personal orchestra. I am thinking he would have still had some cash left over.

    2nd thought:

All that to hear Tinny tim tip toeing through the tulps :)
    Setup:

At his obvious income level, it's lunch money for a month. Everyone has a passion. Audio is probably just one of his.

Personally, it would be interesting to hear it all -- just to see if my old ears could appreciate all the nuances he's chasing.

Too over the top for me.

I've found on systems LIKE that one (and yes, I've heard a few), once you get to 'that' level, its VERY medicinal and refined - so refined sometimes it only sounds good with a certain genre' of music.

Just looking at it, all those metal drivers make my ears hurt.

If you drool over a system like that, it's pathetic IMO.

If that's the pinnacle of this hobby, then, why bother? You should just sell what you have and enjoy your Bose, because that is not an "everyman's" rig.

I can only guess that some of you have not heard a system of lesser caliber than the one mentioned, knock your socks off.

The excess of it's existence is just that, excessive. There is simply no need to go that far to create something pure and evoke emotion.

What's wrong with you people....have you not heard what Blue has posted about his new gear? Or what the DIY speaker builders have said about their end results? Russman finds and demo's world class gear all the time.....Tour has been on a tour of America and heard dozens of stellar systems, etc etc...Hello? Is this thing on?

Audio nirvana is not that hard to achieve, wake up. I'm sure our systems aren't perfect, but guess what, neither is his, and he went through a whole lot more than you or I.

That man will never enjoy anything other than HIS system, period.....but I can enjoy many many systems whenever I feel like it.

From his site, Jves is not happy with the set-up yet, and the system is truly hit or miss to peoples tastes. Shouldn't good sound sound good to everyone?

There are some people on this board with the passion and finances to fund something like that but they never would because they know that $$$ doesn't neccessarily mean good sound.

When I picked up my maggies, I got to hear around $100K 2-channel set-up with gear I had never heard of before. Honestly, I liked Russman's, Doro's, and my own much better. The biggest bother was the room itself. Dedicated 2-channel rooms don't feel "comfortable" or "homey" enough to enjoy what's happening. It does become to clinical as Russ said. You are intently listening for flaws at that point instead of enjoying the music.

I like how that site has more emphasis on how much it cost and how esoteric it is over how good it sounds which seems to be the opposite of "audiophile" in my book.

You know that the life he lives wouldn't allow him to enjoy an understated, mellow, "heard but not seen" stealth system. I looked closely at the photos and thought of how I would have done it differently if I had the means. His giant horns are unsightly at best and should be covered with some type of sheer curtain or the ultimate IB setup would have served my needs better, as power certainly isn't in question here. If horns are required, build them underground and release them into the room ala Royal Device.IMO the sheer amount of power doesn't really match at all with the efficiency of his speaker choices. I do like the high end presentation though, out front. The chandelier has got to add rattles and ringing at volume, so it would be gone.

I also would have made the amp rack more of an eye candy display, maybe as a focal point out in front instead of a simple green metal rack against the wall. An amp garden lightin' up the room at night would be cool as hell in my house.

I don't envy his addiction any more than that of a druggie like Darryl Strawberry. Just becaues they have the means to supply the addiction doesn't allow them to be in control of it. Neither will find nirvana, cause it doesn't exist where they look.

You can only listen so loud, drive so fast, sleep with so many. All else is just hollow excess, isn't it.

I can't/won't judge Yves' system simply by photos and since I'm not likely to be in his neighborhood in the near future, I will defer my comments on how it probably sounds. But I can say that the guy is doing his best to get that "concert hall" feel.

    Enjoy,

I dunno, for my own self......it's all about my own enjoyment. As my rigs have morphed over the years it's never really been because I've been dissatisfied with the status quo. I've enjoyed all my rigs immensley and still do.

I guess my point is, in this hobby I find the fun in more than just the pusuit of perfect fidelity. I like finding gear, listening to different gear and the comraderie that goes along with it.

IF I were to ever acheive that level of disposable income (pfffffft) would I have gear that expensive? Probably. Would I look at what I have now as inferior? Not hardly.

Again, if it's yours and you dig it; who is anyone else to tell you otherwise?

Envy is an emotion I rarely experience. I have what I have...I enjoy what I have...I am blessed and life is good.

As far as these audiophiles are concerned...It's their money to spend as they see fit. If they had chosen to spend the same amount of money and time on Dung Beetle Art...so what! I hope they enjoy their systems as much as I do mine!
