emphasis guys :P how is a amp rated at 150x2 PLUS extra from being benchmarked good for a speaker that handles 125 rms?

The amp is not going to be putting out 150 watts all the time. Chances are youll never push it to 150 watts and the extra power youll have will keep you from clipping the amp.

Just set the gains properly and dont be stupid with the volume and youll be just fine.

Amps only put out their full power at full volume. Given that it takes a doubling of power to get a 3 dB gain, you're not even close to the max power at normal listening volumes. At only 3 dB less than full volume, the 150W amp is only putting out 75W. Thus, no worries about overpowering your speakers.

The reply about having some headroom on the amp to prevent clipping got me thinking, the kicker amp I had on order was 110x2 at 14.4volts and 70x2 at 12.5V, should I change my order and get a larger amp to have some headroom so it isnt always running too hard? or will it even matter? it's a matter of spending another $50 to upgrade to the polk 300.2 amp...what should I do??

The Polk amp is a better amp than the Kicker so I would spend the extra $50 just to have the better product.

The Kicker however is no slouch and will be underrated as well. Again, dont pay too much attention to the voltage ratings. Since these things are underrated you can expect 110 watts real world.

But Id still get the Polk.
