I need some input on a choice of two amps.

1st Luxman M-117 200wpc 500.00 used 8/10 .

2nd Aragon MKII 2004 100wpc @8ohm and 200wpc @4ohm
400.00 7/10

Both fully functional want to drive a pair of SDA2 speakers

any other suggestions for a amp under 500.00 would be appreciated.

thanks,

Ben:)

I'm not sure, but this amp might work pretty good for you here on the forum: ATI

ATI amps are non-common ground. Don't try it unless you have an AI-1 interconnect or at all on some of the older SDA's.

I'm glad you caught that. I didn't even think about the common ground requirement.

Are all ATI amps non common ground?I tried the 300 watt stereo amp on my SRS 1.2tls' and it worked fine.Ive emailed ATI to be 100% certain because youve got me worried! If it was a non common ground amp what would normally happen?
PS the sda was defininatley working

Of those two I would likely vote for the Aragon. The early Lux was some fairly nice stuff; but I was less impressed with the Lux that came out in the mid to late 80’s.

Aragon made a pretty nice amp for the money. You might also hunt for Adcom; either a GFA 545 or a 555 are about as good an amp you can find for typically under $ 400 used.

The Luxman M-117 is a great amp for SDAs. I've used one for 2 years driving 1Cs. It's on the FM now, but bluecomet has dibs. If he backs out, send me a PM.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE
