Am I the only one who got 'Car Audio Fast Lane' newsletter from Polk?! Go check your mail! It has a link to a preview of the new Signature Series!! Come on folks!!!
And if you didn't get it....here's the link: http://www.polkaudio.com/car/product.php?name=sr6500
Now, I obviously can't comment on the performance of the SR6500, but I CAN comment on the appearance of it. I must say that I am disappointed. I most certainly didn't want something taht looked like it came from Audiobahn or Sony or even MTX, with all the crome, flames, bling-bling, etc. However, I did want something that looks cool. With both the DB and MOMO series components, you can install those and leave them visible because they look flat-out cool. Now, I know that the Signature Series is targeted to those who are looking for the ultimate sound and don't care what it looks like, but it sure would've been cool if Polk had made the ultimate sounding speaker AND a great looking one combined.
Anyhoo, that's just my opinion. I don't think they look bad, and I don't want 'em to look like something from Audiobahn, but I would have liked them to have a 'carbon fiber weave' or a white cone with 'SR' (like the DB series), or something, so that when they're installed and left visible, it's 'oooh, they look cool.'
So, what do you guys think?

Hmmm....I'm wondering if maybe a mod can change the title of this thread to 'Polk's new Signature Series' or some such......that would be a lot more descriptive of the thread's contents......can it be changed now...?
Thanks!George Grand wrote: »

250 watts RMS, thats my kind of speaker:D
I'll have to find the nearest Tweeter and go give em a listen. Theres most likely one in Houston which is like an hour away.
Personally, I love the way they look. A lot of people on the forum were asking for an all black speaker and they look fabulous. A+ on that. Can't wait to hear em...

Look again; that'd be 125 watts RMS.George Grand wrote: »

I think they look great as well. From what I remember in the pics from CES, that crossover is massive too. Maybe when they are available, I grab a pair for an extra project or something...hmm. Definatly gonna have to find somewhere to hear them though. The nearest Tweeter isn't for hours.1993 Ford Ranger super cab:

it was 2 tickets and the cop was a dick...
ive killed 6 subs, 4 of them at their rated power, 2 were maybe 75-100 watts over. No sub I killed was running off an amp that Polk didnt recommend...

exactly, he couldve made it 89 so i would have been able to take defensive driving...dick...and besides, radar fluxuates like 3% anyway. in my defense, my tires are bigger than stock so it said i was going 84 and i thought the speed limit was 70.
-CodyMusic is like candy, you have to get rid of the rappers to enjoy it -
Well, those are two seemingly innocent mistakes (*thinking* it was 70 and not having your computer changed for your larger tires); but, they added up pretty well, there.George Grand wrote: »

i drive a silver convertible sports car, i guarantee it draws more attention (especially after i go to a concert, cause i put my hair in blue spikes for those ). plus it's always all clean and shiny...
i like the new SS comps... the tweeter sounds amazing, too, that's what i'd buy it for. the looks are so-so, you could do two things with em... 1, hide em, total stealth, or 2, show em off... you brag to your friends about how amazing your system is, they sit down and think, "those dull little things are what he's all hyped about??", then you turn it on and they think, "wow, that DOES sound amazing!"...
i like option 2...It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

Yeah, except none of my friends appreciate 'good quality sound' (or can tell when they're hearing it). They'd be like, "hey, I can still breath; where's the bass?!?!?!"George Grand wrote: »

which is why you want the same system to be able to implode their little heads when necessary
and appreciation takes time... a year ago, my girlfriend couldn't hear the difference between my car and her 10-year-old boombox... she has since disposed of it because she can't stand the awful soundIt's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

What is wrong with the way those speakers look? They are CLEAN! That is what matters. There are no bling-bling colors and grilles and there is no flashy-look-at-me styling to them. Speakers don't have to look good just so kids can leave them out in the open to give thier friends woodies and impress the little girls.
Also, at $750 a pair I think I would rather leave them hidden from the view of prying eyes.
Now for my gushing!
It has a RING RADIATOR TWEETER!!!!!!
WHEEE!!!!! Tweeter most likely doesn't have them in yet but if you want to hear these speakers, go to Tweeter or any place that might have a Polk Audio LSi7. The drivers are smaller but based on the same technology so your sound will be similar provided they have been installed correctly. Since these are based on the critically acclaimed LSi series of speakers, I can promise you that there is nothing out there for your car that even comes close to these speakers for the price. The driver manufacturing processes are based directly off of the LSi series and many, many reviewers have compared the LSi series of speakers to speakers costing 2-4 times as much.
I can't wait to hear these for myself and grab myself a set!
