My friend's speakers don't have keyhole but he really wants them wall mounted. Is **** the mount onto the back of the speaker a bad idea or is it ok? Will it have an effect on the sound?

Can you build some sort of a shelf for them? Sid (Vr3MxStyler2k3 ) built some really nice shelves so he could mount floorstanders on the wall. Looked pretty easy to build and worked quite well.
I just hate **** things into a perfectly good speaker.
BTW - if they are bose speakers, screw away.

Edit - Found a pic of them They are used to hold movies and CD's now (but still on the wall) It looked nice with the speakers he had there. I am sure he could point you in the right direction to build some yourselves.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Yep, those were designed to hold a 50 pound speaker...
Actually, I have a pair of speaker sshelves (big enough to hold a RT5, RT35i laid on its side) - they need a lil wood filler and a new paint job, but could be yours for 10 dollars, + a box full of packing materials They even have a cork top to keep the speaker from vibrating off...
If you are interested, I'll go get them out of the garage and take some pics- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
OK guys thanks for your help. My friend just decided we could make our own shelves so you don't have to bother pulling out yours (but thanks anyway)
