I think we are starting to get enough people into DIY that it is talked about enough that it could warrant another forum...

Just a thought... :)

If you want a DIY forum, go to a DIY forum. This forum is for Polk Audio speakers. Does it make sense for Polk Audio to put a section for people who are building their OWN speakers, instead of buying Polk?

    Hmmmm.....

DIY doesn't have to be speakers...I've seen posts with people building other stuff on here too.

We have a video games forum...why not a DIY forum? I think it would be allright if they had a section dedicated to it...

I'd be interested. Does that include mods, too?
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Good idea. I built an equipment rack myself, a solid DIY project. I got the idea to build the flexi rack from reading this forum. I'm in for a DIY forum.

I suppose I didn't think about DIY in things other than speakers. Just that Sid seems to do a lot of DIY speaker projects, that's what I first thought of.

I, myself, have made my own equip rack, so perhaps I'll retract my above statement about the DIY forum.

I still think that it should not detract from the Polk name (IE- if some newbie comes on and sees a hugely active section of the forum with people building tons of their own speakers, they might think twice about buying polk...)

    Just my thoughts.

    Mods, Equipment Racks, Speakers, Whatever..

And if people want to build their own speakers, they will - if people dont have the interest in building their own speakers from the get go, the probability of them picking it up because of a forum is unlikely...

But DIY is unlimited, like fixing your sink to constructing a pair of shoes

DIY? I don't think any of you want me to see me do it myself.

Why not. I would love to get ahold of some 10B drivers/tweeters/crossovers and put them into a DIY cabinet similar to the LSi9's and see how it sounds.

Great idea. I just DIYed my entire basement (now the entertainment room). I even posted about building speaker boxes (to hold the speakers up, not replace the factory ones). Let's face it, when we re-do a room like that, it's built around our sound, not the other way around.

c'mon who hasn't made a pair of duct tape shoes or at least brought a really old pair back to life with duct tape when they're bored??

Yeah a diy / mod section would be cool.

I can support it. Many products have come from forward-thinking companies that monitored what the DIY/Hackers were doing and developed products from the ideas.
